The dynamic development of the holding, centralization of its administration and accounting functions, diversification of activities in the construction business, extension of its market presence and increasing demands on the company resulted in a logical decision to modernize and standardize the IT infrastructure. In 2012 a tender call was announced for a contractor to perform the IT structure auditing and to prepare the technical project for building a common unified information space in the INTECO Group. The business proposal of I.T. Co. was named the winner due to a combination of many factors.
The main goal of creating an integrated information space was to reduce operational costs for the IT infrastructure's maintenance by elaborating a unified technical policy and introducing unified standards for IT resources implementation and maintenance. A necessary condition of the project was to preserve the investments into the existing IT infrastructure.
In autumn 2012 I.T. Co. performed a work package for auditing and designing the IT infrastructure for the parent enterprise and subsidiaries of the INTECO Company Group. Within the scope of the project the personnel of IT Company performed a series of investigations and issued a conclusion regarding the reliability and possible risks of the existing infrastructure and IT systems. Based on the final report, IT Company developed the project conception of the enterprise IT structure, determined principal stages, scheduling and expenditures for the IT infrastructure modernization for each holding enterprise towards the achievement of the target state. All technical solutions were divided into three types: central office (with central data center, central switch point, certification center), subsidiary offices, and small offices of subsidiaries.
As a result, the optimal architecture was created based upon cutting-edge solutions of the acknowledged market leaders, which includes:
- Computational infrastructure: server hardware, data storage system
- Software technical platform: Microsoft Active Directory directory service, Microsoft Exchange Server corporate email, base network services (DNS, DHCP, NTP), file service, printing service, terminal access and internet access, unified communication system based on Cisco, Microsoft Lync, Polycom firmware
- Telecommunication infrastructure: local networks, external network access (WAN), IP-telephony with unified numbering system, video and audio conferencing and network security
The next stage of the project consisted of implementing the designed technical solutions. IT Company was commissioned to perform these works according to the new competition announced by the customer. The IT infrastructure modernization at all holding enterprises was performed until autumn 2013 in accordance with the approved migration plan of the existing INTECO IT infrastructure towards the target design concept. As a result of the creation of the unified centralized corporate data network and the launching of the designed IT services, the staff of the INTECO Group were able to effectively communicate and problem solve within the common communication space.
