I.T. Co. has completed supply and installation of Microsoft software for ALBA shoes stores chain owned by Alibi-Corporation. The licensing was done under the Open Value scheme allowing for reduction of the initial costs through three years of installment payments.
Chain of shoes boutiques under the ALBA brand sells high quality modern shoes and accessories manufactured in Italy and Spain. Today ALBA chain consists of over 70 stores in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk and other Russian cities.
Before ALBA had a disconnected management system that hindered efficient business administration and increased the cost of computing machinery support and maintenance. Such situation does not suit strategic plans of the company and requires cardinal changes.
In addition to the Microsoft software ALBA management considered a possibility of using open source software. The first option was preferred by the client for a number of reasons. First of all, ALBA users and system administrators already have experience with Microsoft software. Secondly, migration to a new platform would require additional time and financial costs. The licensing partner was chosen through a tender from among a number of competitors. I.T. Co. chosen for several reason including beneficial licensing terms, high qualification of specialists, guaranteed minimal response time and client oriented approach.
According to the contract terms all ALBA computers were licensed (over 150 PCs and servers with distributed structure). The list of Microsoft products supplied included: server and client operating systems, office applications, Exchange mail server, Visio visualization software, SQL database, ISA firewall, Project management systems.
The licensing system offered by I.T. Co. turned out to be the best according to the aggregate of parameters. It did not require significant initial investments from ALBA, facilitated project execution within the set deadline, and allowed for reduction of the software support costs,— says ALBA IT Director Vladimir Koverznev.
ALBA began its operations in the Russian shoes market as a volume shoes importer in 1993. Five years later it began manufacturing shoes under its own brand – ALBA, which in Italian means "dawn". Since 1998 the company has been actively developing its own chain of stores offering a wide selection of men's and women's shoes, handbags and belts. Company website
