As part of MHK EvroChem IT infrastructure modernization program I.T. Co. has successfully completed the universal cable infrastructure and corporate communication system project at Kovdorsk Mining Company. The total project cost amounted to about 16 million rubles.
LLC Kovdorsk Mining Company (Kovdorsk GOK) is a part of MHK EvroChem and is one of the leading enterprises in the Northwestern region of Russia, the second biggest producer of apatite concentrate in Russia, big producer of iron concentrate, the only producer of baddeleite concentrate in the world. In December 2004 I.T. Co. won the tender for development of structured cabling systems and fiber-optic communication lines for five MHK EvroChem plants, including Kovdorsk GOK.
I.T. Co. had to modernize the plant's cable infrastructure and implement corporate communication system based on Avaya equipment. The new communication system had to operate 24 hours per day and offer high reliability services to users.
Based on the audit results I.T. Co. has developed Kovdorsk GOK cable infrastructure modernization project that included replacement of phone mains (about 2000 m) and cross equipment (over 16000 pairs). I.T. Co. specialists have successfully addressed the problem of expensive equipment protection installed outside buildings from hazardous atmospheric conditions and possible effect of electromagnetic field. The company has also built uninterrupted power supply system for switching and server rooms where the corporate telephone network equipment is installed.
The project resulted in a new corporate telephone network based on Avaya equipment. This network has high reliability level — 0.999, which corresponds to disruption of all connections or loss of over 50% capacity not more than 8.76 hours per years. Total number of network subscribers — over 1100.
Alexander Kontsevoy, head of Industrial Automation and Metrology at Kovdorsk GOK, says: “Corporate communication system built by I.T. Co. using Avaya equipment not only guarantees high reliability of the entire plant telephone network and comfortable interaction of staff with other EvroChem enterprises, but also provides for reduction of the plant's operational costs.”
I.T. Co has been executing telecommunication projects for MHK EvroChem since December 2004. During this period the company built universal cable infrastructure in the Moscow office and three Russian plants: Phosphorite, Belorechenskiye Minudobreniya and Kovdorsk Mining Company. Work at Nevinnomysk Azot will be completed in the next few months.
