The fifth scientific and practical conference “Information System of an Innovative Higher Education Institution 2012: higher education institutions as centers of implementation and development of innovations” was held in Moscow. The event gathered over 60 participants from various Russian cities.
I.T. Co. together with the largest higher education institutions of the country has been organizing scientific and practical conferences “Information System of an Innovative Higher Education Institution” since 2008. This year the partner of the event was the National Research University, the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (MSUCE), which has been cooperating with I.T. for several years. 5 years ago the specialized science chair “Intellectual Systems of Automatic Equipment and Management” for training and retraining of experts in the field of creation and utilization of “smart buildings” and BMS systems was established on the basis of MSUCE.
The conference was opened by Oleg Olegovich Egorychev, the first vice rector of MSUCE, Doctor of Engineering and Professor. In his opening speech addressed to participants he noticed the important role of informatization for development of a modern higher education institution, having emphasized that MSUCE, being a research university, has been actively using the experience of the leading manufacturers and the most advanced engineering and information technologies in the educational process. In MSUCE they started with creation of a base network infrastructure, and then they introduced information systems of various classes and turned to creation of unique laboratories. Such an approach allows preparing the high level experts familiar with the best global solutions not only in the theory, but also in practice.
Tagir Yapparov, Chairman of Board of Directors of I.T. Group answered the questions related to the fact, that IT is becoming the driver of improvements and innovations in education and how it became possible. There is an improvement of programs, techniques and preparation: higher education institutions begin to use international standards, teachers start online interaction with students. There are possibilities to implement new approaches to teaching on the basis of new technologies: virtual environment (laboratories, classes), coeducation in social networks. Implementation of new technologies into the educational process is becoming more active: distance education, electronic educational resources, knowledge portals and many other things.
The scientific and practical conference has become a platform for communication of many specialists of higher education institutions, for those who are already actively using IT, and for those who are planning to start using IT in educational and scientific processes. Strong interest of listeners has been arisen by reports on new technologies of self-service in higher education institutions, modernization of lighting in higher education institutions on the basis of the power service contract concluded with I.T., consideration of higher education institution property on the basis of RFID-technologies, and also by the story about successful experience of MSUCE and I.T. in the field of development and implementation of innovations.
During the second part of the conference representatives of St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, well-known "trend-setter" on cloud computing in the sphere of the Russian science and education, shared their valuable experience of application of virtual reality technologies in the educational process, intellectual technologies of grid computing, spoke about virtual laboratory for forecasting and research of extreme situations. Since 2010 St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics and I.T. have been conducting the development of a versatile instrumental and technological platform (VITP) for creation and management of the distributed environment of cloud computing.
In his speech, that became a bright event of the conference, Alexander Bukhanovsky, Director of Scientific Research Institute of the high-tech computer technologies of St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, said that nowadays implementation of cloudy technologies into the already existing systems of grid computing has become basic and inevitable. In order to approach to high-grade e-Science and e-Engineering, it is necessary to create a new class of technologies related to automation and intellectualization of processes in distributed environments, which certainly require state support within federal and industry programs.
Excursion to “Smart City” laboratory located in the territory of MSUCE, where participants of the seminar observed the most advanced systems of equipment and automation of modern buildings and facilities, became one of the bright examples of implementation of innovative technologies in a higher education institution. In this laboratory the higher education institution managed to collect the best global solutions for management of various engineering and adjacent systems: lighting, heating, water supply, climate control, multimedia systems and so forth.
