I.T. Co. had completed equipping central control room (CCR) of Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP with a 12x3 m display wall of 9x3 Delta display cubes with LED light. The project allowed to elevate efficiency of operational and technological management of SSHPP and monitoring and management of technological and production processes and to increase the level of informational supply and working conditions of the operators.
During Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP complex modernization program, a modern display wall was installed at the CCR. For the first time in history of Russian hydroenergetics, a multifunctional screen is installed instead of traditional but morally obsolete alarm board, displaying all the information necessary to run the station.
The need to replace the CCR alert board rose due to SSHPP switching to new microprocessing equipment for technological process management and equipment control. The old board had been working since 1979, and its features were limited by the technology of its time. Modernization of the shield was impossible due to a number of design solutions made during initial setup. At the same time, new equipment provides wider functionality for the operators, and its realization would be incomplete without a display board. Before the new display was installed, most of the information delivered to the CCR was observed on PC monitors.
New multifunctional overview screen is an HD display wall 12 meters long and 3 meters high. The screen displays the scheme of power distribution and internal use of Sayano-Shushenskaya and Maynskaya HPP, information about their operation modes, parameters of group active power controller of SSHPP and technical video surveillance control points. In addition to that, almost any information from the technological process control system can be displayed, from alarms to changes from control and measurement equipment at waterworks. Moreover, a led panel was installed to display key operational parameters of the complex.
"The functionality of the new display is outstanding" – mentioned Alexander Voloshin, Vice Head of Technological Management Systems Service, SSHPP. "The display wall allows us to receive information from eight sources simultaneously. By choosing a source and a location on the display, operators can form a mosaic of images or spread one out to full screen. Here, it's also simple to organize parallel display of several screens, with changes on the display made with one gesture of the hand. This enables us to focus on one or another part of the main scheme or technological system."
Today, the display wall is functioning in test mode, while operators offer ways to optimize it. From there, these recommendations will be considered to maximize ergonomics and informational capacity of the collective screen and rise efficiency and comfortability of work for the operators. Following closely after testing and setting up, the display will be put into service.
